Our Epic Weekend

Landon and I had the chance to head to St. Louis this weekend to visit friends and just hang out.  A lot of times, we find that weekend trips are not relaxing and we end up exhausted by the end of Sunday...not too excited about the coming work week.  Not so with this trip!  We didn't make any definite plans, so we weren't rushed to get anywhere or do anything specific.  We had such a great time with our friends!

Here are some highlights:

*road tripping with my boy listening to good music and eating yummy snacks

*game night with Dan, Natalie, Josie, and BJ.  Yummy treats, great tea, funny dogs, awesome games, champagne, and lots of laughs. :)

*Great lunch with Landon...it's called Pi Pizzeria and they had amazing deep dish pizza! It was in such a cute neighborhood and we enjoyed walking around on the beautiful day.

*Fun times with Dan, a friend of mine from college.  We stayed with him and his roommates in their awesome townhouse...classy place by the way.  I caught up on reading, we played more games, went to a great coffee house called Cafe Ventana and just enjoyed reading while Dan studied (he's in medical school.)

What a great and fun time!  We are so blessed to have such amazing and encouraging friends.
I love weekend trips...

Game night!

I may have gotten side-tracked with these vintage games sets while looking around Restoration Hardware.
Speaking of games...Landon and I are headed to St. Louis tomorrow, and we're planning a game night with these friends.  I'm so excited!  We'll also be seeing a great friend of mine from college who's at med. school at Washington U.  He lives in a big house with his other roomies that they call the MANsion, and we get to stay there!
Oh, this should prove to be a wonderful weekend!

Movies and Music...

Some film love and music fancies...

This movie looks fantastic!

I love this song so much...it reminds me of when we watched Tron. :)

This makes me want to dance with glow sticks in a crowded room.
(excuse the french in the song, or really, just the entire message in the lyrics. i just love the tune.) :)

I love the look of antique and re-purposed wood in homes, such as old butcher blocks, barn doors, and barn support beams.
My grandpa has an old butcher block and it adds so much character to his kitchen.  I love it with all it's scratches and dents and worn spots.
Landon and I have dreamed of building our own home someday and incorporating old wooden elements like these into the design.

Coffeecake and Friends...

I had such a wonderful weekend.  Landon and I took it easy on Friday night with pizza and a movie...we watched Jack Goes Boating which was amazing!  I cried.  Please watch this endearing movie if you get a chance.

On Saturday morning, Landon and I met my sister Hannah and her husband Jon, and my brother Jonah at Paradise Bakery for breakfast since they were on their way to Nashville and passing through Indy.  I love my family so much.

Then I headed up to see my roommate from college, Autumn and we had a craft day!  She is so easy to get along with and a true and genuine person.  Also, she works at a maximum security prison as a nurse, so I feel pretty safe with her since she doesn't take no crap. :)
She posted about our day also on her blog.

Autumn made a grocery bag...no pattern, she just made it and it was awesome.  I started another embroidery project.  We had amazing coffee cake that Autumn made.  I was telling Landon about the coffee cake and he wanted me to make some, so I found this recipe on foodgawker.com (which was introduced to me by Autumn.)  I'm pretty sure I will do a whole week of nothing but recipes from that website sometime.

We also got to see our friend Ballard who went to college with us.  She is a sweetie and like a little sister to me.

I hope you all are enjoying your Monday.  Don't let this dreary weather get to you.  Boil a pot of tea, sit down with a good book and have a quiet time for an hour or so.

fairytale...

I just love these Beauty and The Beast photos of Drew Barrymore.  They were taken by Annie Leibovitz, one my favorite photographers I studied in college.
Disney's Beauty and The Beast was the first movie I ever saw and I love the story so much.
These photos make me want to dress up and daydream...
