It's a wet day today in Indy, but nice since I'm off work.  Perfect day for putting on some music and making art.  And I have to finish my book...it's taking forever for me to wrap this one up.

Disney's Beauty and The Beast was the first movie I ever saw and I love the story so much.

i love pandora so much and how it helps me find new bands that are amazing....
i love, love, love new music...i'm always looking for new bands and new songs that i've never heard of before.  don't get me wrong, i love the oldies that i'll always love, but i don't want to get stuck on a set variety of music.

This print from YeeHaw's shop is so neat.  I'm sure I know of a few fellows who would like it on their wall.

This made me pretty curious about the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book.  I wonder if I'd like it?
Since I just finished the book I was reading, I'm on the hunt for a new one....I was thinking maybe The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but maybe zombies could be just as entertaining.

stretch a little

doing all these illustrations for friends got me in the mood to do ours.
i may have stayed up too late working on this, but i just can't pull away from the computer sometimes.  i'll be posting some illustrations i have done for friends soon!

i had a free personal training session today at the gym we joined and i am sore!  i did not know my leg could be stretched as far as the trainer did...i tried to convince him i was done, but he said i could stretch more.  but it was fun to do a personal training session and find out some cool ways to work out.
hope you are all having a fun and amazing Thursday!  the day is beautiful here with the sun shining and it's not too cold.  i'm so happy today!  it i have time later, i might make some hot tea and read for awhile.

Here's another couple illustration of my friends Lucy and Kyle...the ones I posted engagement pictures of earlier.

Lucy and Kyle are down to earth, fun, laid back, relaxed, and so perfect for one another.
Lucy is one of my good friends from college, and I met Kyle for the first time at our wedding last year.  He is a great guy, and it's been neat getting to know him better as we've hung out with them.
I'm so excited for Lucy and Kyle to get married this coming spring.  It's going to be an epic wedding!

I love these amazing letterpress prints from Wilkintie.
Such great detail and colors.  I wouldn't mind hanging one on my wall.
Today I get to hang out with my daddy.  I'll be taking him to the airport later, so we're exploring Indy for the afternoon.

I absolutely love the work from artist Kyla Leslie of Kove.  She was recently interviewed as a featured seller on Etsy.  I can't stop looking at her work...so beautiful, neutral, and inviting.  My neck would be right at home in one of those cozy pieces.
I need to make a yarn trip...this is so inspiring.

I am so very happy that Fall is here!  Even if the weather hasn't caught up nearly as fast as I would like. Tonight I shall make apple scones.

designs

Here are some recent designs I've worked on. I decided to make some decorative wedding "certificates" for the two weddings we attended in July. I was sort of inspired by some of the old embroidered ones I've seen in my Grandma's house and my mother-in-law's house. I love the idea of remembering such an important day through decor. They were printed on watercolor paper to give a bit of texture.

And I'm currently working on a business card design for my brother Ezrah. He's working as a pedicab driver in Denver and wanted some catchy cards to get into people's wallets. He's kind of a vintage guy, so I went with some vintage inspired colors and fonts. He said the mock up looked legit, so I think we're on the right track. Slogan is courtesy of my sister Hannah..she's pretty quick on the draw.

Beautify

I'm so excited for some new art we ordered for our apartment. The walls are so white and blank in here! We don't like cluttered and busy looking walls, rather some carefully chosen pieces with meaning and just-so placement.

The space above our bed definitely needed some color and we've been looking around for just the right piece. I studied art in college, so I pulled out my Gardener's History of Art, and found one of my all-time favorite paintings. The Kiss, by Gustav Klimt was the one! The painting is so beautiful and tender, and the colors are so rich and vivid...just perfect for our bedroom.

Then, we found a gorgeous Van Gogh painting, Blossoming Almond Tree, that will go in our living room. We love the tealish blue color and it will go nicely with our curtains and chair that we already have.

I can't wait to get the prints and have them framed...now for some good frame hunting.

Ah, I love art. Someday when we have a house, I'll have room to put up all my work from college and my senior art show, and maybe I'll even have my own studio room...that would be amazing.

Today I am thankful for:

*a wonderful run on the Monon trail
*having coffee with my lover
*a cloudless evening...so beautiful
*getting to talk on the phone with both of my brothers, Ezrah and Jonah
*God's faithfulness and knowing that He is completely involved and in control of my life

IMA and the Flying Cupcake

Landon and I spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon checking out the Indiana Museum of Art and a cute little bakery called The Flying Cupcake in Broad Ripple. I got a lemon chiffon cupcake, and Landon got a red velvet cupcake....yummm. We love exploring around our new city and finding little places to go! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well.
