Summer's Night

I just love looking for beautiful things. This is a dreamy outfit that I would love to wear on a lovely evening out with my husband. Since summer is here, I always think of creams, and golds, and warm pastels....ahhh. I think of walks in the warm dusk, seeing lightning bugs and hearing the cicadas singing while drinking in the golden evening sunlight. Isn't it amazing what each season of the year brings? Each one is so unique and beautiful. Get dressed up and go out with your special someone to celebrate a summer's night.

Manly Man

My husband is amazing. Simple, loving, forgiving, godly, gentlemanly, solid.......I could go on and on. I am so lucky to be married to Landon and for all he is teaching me. Marriage is not easy...it's a relationship that constantly needs work and perfecting. I am challenged so much with my attitudes, and Landon is so patient with me.

I am so tired of the modern woman's attitude towards men...a lot of times they make men out to be big dumb oafs that only care about physical stuff and video games. They undermine man's god-given design to be protectors and leaders and cripple men's desire to be that godly man. Call me old-fashioned, but I believe in Landon being head of the home...this doesn't mean I am lower than him or unimportant in our relationship, but I have a different role. It is so wonderful and amazing to see a man carrying out his God-given role...he is like a captain of an army who is the leader of his troop. He has an important job of leading, protecting, and fighting right along side of his men. It is such an honor for me, as a wife, to work in a complimentary way with Landon. I am his helpmeet, and my job is to support him and assist him any way I can. I love that!

This picture just reminded me of my amazing husband who is always so good to me. I feel safe and protected with him, and God has shown me a lot of His own characteristics through Landon. So here's to manly men who aren't afraid to be what God intended them to be, and for wives who appreciate and respect that...I'm preaching at myself on this. :)

Just some thoughts for your brain to chew on.

Cheers,

Leah

Beautify

I'm so excited for some new art we ordered for our apartment. The walls are so white and blank in here! We don't like cluttered and busy looking walls, rather some carefully chosen pieces with meaning and just-so placement.

The space above our bed definitely needed some color and we've been looking around for just the right piece. I studied art in college, so I pulled out my Gardener's History of Art, and found one of my all-time favorite paintings. The Kiss, by Gustav Klimt was the one! The painting is so beautiful and tender, and the colors are so rich and vivid...just perfect for our bedroom.

Then, we found a gorgeous Van Gogh painting, Blossoming Almond Tree, that will go in our living room. We love the tealish blue color and it will go nicely with our curtains and chair that we already have.

I can't wait to get the prints and have them framed...now for some good frame hunting.

Ah, I love art. Someday when we have a house, I'll have room to put up all my work from college and my senior art show, and maybe I'll even have my own studio room...that would be amazing.

Today I am thankful for:

*a wonderful run on the Monon trail
*having coffee with my lover
*a cloudless evening...so beautiful
*getting to talk on the phone with both of my brothers, Ezrah and Jonah
*God's faithfulness and knowing that He is completely involved and in control of my life

Have a wonderful day...the weekend is almost here!

Cheers,

Leah

Update

I can't believe it's already the second week of June! This year has just flown by. I know people always say that, but it really has gone by so quickly. I thought I'd just give a quick update on what Landon and I have been doing here in Indy.

Landon is still working as a Structural Engineer and is loving what he does. He has been busy ever since we've moved here with constant jobs to work on. He gets overwhelmed sometimes, but is such a great problem-solver that he is able to work through anything that comes his way. He has gotten a lot of positive affirmation from co-workers and the boss man, which has been so encouraging to him and me as well. I'm so happy that my husband is doing what he loves and what he went to school for. God has blessed us so much with this job.

I am working as a nanny for a family in our area. I've been a nanny for 8 years, and this is the most challenging position I've had so far. The biggest thing is communication with the mother. Our personalities are so different that I've had some really awkward moments at work. I was able to talk with her though and things are going so much better. I got my schedule changed from 1-8pm to 10-5pm now, and it is so nice to come home and spend an evening with Landon. But this is such a good job, the family is so generous, and I love the kids. I may have gotten to go mini-golfing three times in one week which isn't a normal on the job activity. :) Fun!! I've been working on art projects and some small sewing projects in between work as well....oh Etsy, I'm coming I promise! :) Work has put me behind a bit, but slowly and surely it will become a reality for me.

We have been going to a small church plant since March and feel so much at home. Landon and I are both from very small congregations, so mega churches don't have much of a draw for us. But this is a group of about 50 believers that just come together and worship and love. It was so refreshing to meet such genuine people...I'm so tired of people who put up a fake front because I can see through them so quickly. Our church is amazing and we feel God's presence so strongly there. I've especially loved taking communion every Sunday because Landon and I share it as a couple and Landon prays over us before we partake. It is one of the highlights of my week!! God is so amazing to us.

Since we're both working, we don't have a lot of free time, but we've started running together again after work. We have some long range running goals, and I'm so glad to have a partner to share them with. Landon mapped out a route for us that we run every night. We also have gotten to enjoy exploring our area and finding new things to do. We have been taking a lot of weekend trips too....visiting family and friends mostly. And we're excited to take a family vacation with Landon's family this summer, and we're working on another trip that we'll be taking with Hannah and Jon...but the destination is a surprise right now, details later. :)

Well this is long enough I guess. Just wanted to give an update. We're going for a run, then making supper and I'm making granola tonight.
Hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy this beautiful weather! Do something crazy this week!

Cheers,

Leah
