Let's carve a pumpkin!

Landon and I carved our halloween pumpkins last night and had a complete blast.  There's nothing like getting your hands all slimy and using sharp objects while listening to some Frightened Rabbit and being with your favorite guy.

I also made some dinner in a pumpkin and it was pretty delicious...I thought maybe the pumpkin flesh mixed with the rice and beef would be a little weird, but it was actually really good!  Here's the recipe I based mine on.  Try it out and have a fun fall supper.

I was pleased with how our pumpkins turned out and we had so much fun last night...you can probably guess that mine is the owl and Landon's is the bat. :)

Hope you all have a fun weekend!  Landon and I are dressing up as Aldous Snow and Jackie Q. and heading to Broad Ripple with Hannah and Jon, who are going as Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers.  Should be a blast!

Love,
Leah

pumpkin time...

Tonight Landon and I are carving our pumpkins!  I'm really excited since I can't remember the last time I actually carved a pumpkin for fun (excluding the times I've done it for baking purposes.)
Aren't these pumpkins so pretty and different?  I'm pretty sure Landon is going to do a scary/gruesome pumpkin, but I'm not sure yet what I want to do for mine.
Also, I'm going to be making dinner in a pumpkin for our supper tonight.  I had it for the first time a few years ago with some friends in Oregon and it was delicious!  Here's the recipe I'm going to try, but I'll be adding some onion, garlic, and cheese.
Pair it with some hard cider, and we've got a great supper!

Hope you all are having a good Friday so far!

Love,
Leah

These images caught my eye today.
They were photographed by Simon Duhamel for the Kaaz Hair Salon with a great yearbook feel.
Love these!

maybe that's a start...

This video was perfect for today.  I love Alexi Murdoch's songs...
I got out the guitar and started learning it, and I was surprised at how easy the picking is.

I'm working on a new logo for myself (graphics & Etsy) and for business cards soon.
Here is the mock up I did today...I'm really pleased with how it's looking so far.

The sun is shining, the air is fresh, I have a wonderful home and husband, and I am just so content today.  It's been a relaxing week so far and I am loving these drawn out days and trying to savor them.

Have a wonderful day...

I think that the most comfy and inviting and best room in the world is the bedroom.  It's so cozy, warm, calm, and the perfect place for reading, relaxing, and de-stressing.
Aren't these bedrooms amazing?  I love them all...wood, brick, and neutrals are the best my friends.

Wilkintie Prints

I love these amazing letterpress prints from Wilkintie.
Such great detail and colors.  I wouldn't mind hanging one on my wall.
Today I get to hang out with my daddy.  I'll be taking him to the airport later, so we're exploring Indy for the afternoon.

Leah

keeping cozy

*My neckwarmer is done!  It might not be perfectly put together, but I like it and it will keep my neck warm this cold winter.

*I made calzones for the first time in a long time...they were long overdue.  My family grew up making these and they are so delicious and hearty!

*We ate a leftover caramel apple from last weekend at home.  I vote that tart apples smothered in gooey caramel and rich chocolate and nuts are pretty much like heaven.

*Landon and I made homemade hot cocoa since it was a bit chilly the other night.  It was good, but then my tummy wasn't happy with me after all that rich whole milk!  I am getting less and less able to drink milk like that.  Maybe we'll make a soy hot cocoa...now that sounds delish!

We're just taking it easy this weekend.  Football and relaxing.  I hope you all are having a good weekend so far!

Love,
Leah

family

We had such fun weekend last week hanging out with both of our families. If you come to my parents' house in the fall you know there will be football and food.
I got to hang out with my Dad and my brother Jonah on Tuesday at the Heartland Film Festival.  We watched two amazing films.  We are definitely going next year too!
My dad had never been to Boogie Burger so of course we had to go for some good eats.
I love hanging out with my favorite people.
Have a great day!

Leah

I love cafés and coffee and good books.
It is a dream of my sister's and mine to open up a small café someday.
(one of many dreams.)
And since I can't go to Amsterdam this afternoon, I'll take my book and go to Starbucks and imagine I'm somewhere else, like sitting in one of these amazing cafés...

Hope you all have an amazing day...it's so gorgeous out right now!

Aren't these images amazing?  I stumbled across them on Oncewed today and absolutely love the rich colors.  These were taken by Sloan Photographers, and I couldn't help but waste some time on their site looking at their amazing work.
